About ICEA
Overview
The India Cellular & Electronics Association (ICEA) is the apex industry body representing India’s electronics manufacturing sector including Mobile phones, Consumer electronics, Wearables & Hearables, IT Hardware, Industrial electronics, strategic electronics etc. along with their value chain.
ICEA has been instrumental in shaping the policy framework for the mobile and electronics industry. Such as PMP, SPECS, PLI along with various manufacturing conducive amendments in indirect taxes on value chain items. These efforts have yielded positive outcomes, as over the last decade, India’s mobile phone manufacturing and exports have seen phenomenal growth, redefining the country’s position on the global stage. Production catapulted from INR 18,900 crores in 2014-15 to an impressive ~INR 4,22,000 crores in 2023-24—a staggering 2200% increase. Exports tell an equally powerful story, in 2014-15, mobile phone exports stood at a modest INR 1,556 crores and it is projected to soar to INR 1,29,000 crores in 2024-25 – marking a 8200% surge.
This growth has propelled mobile phones to become India’s 3rd largest export commodity, ushering in a new era for the country’s export landscape. ICEA is now committed to extend this success across other verticals of electronics manufacturing, such as IT hardware, consumer electronics, wearables, and hearables, etc.
Aligning with the Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s goal of achieving USD 500 billion in electronics production by 2030, ICEA aims to attract GVC players and cultivate domestic champions which together can scale operations thereby catering to domestic and export demands.
ICEA is driving a transformative agenda with an aim to facilitate deeper integration into Global Value Chains (GVCs) and foster robust and resilient supply chains. It will leverage India’s strength in scale as well as innovation while further enhancing the competitive landscape for domestic manufacturers.
ICEA is closely working with various government bodies, industry stakeholders, and international partners to deepen supply chain networks and maximize domestic value addition while ensuring that Indian companies are well-positioned to compete globally. ICEA is proactively advocating policies that encourage the creation of large-scale manufacturing units and strengthening the supporting infrastructure required for efficient supply chains. Through strategic policy advocacy and close collaboration with stakeholders, ICEA is propelling India towards becoming a global manufacturing and export powerhouse.
